Reports to: Manager of Warehouse Operations
General Responsibilities: Ensure effective distribution of food to emergency feeding organizations. Load and unload trucks, stage food orders, deliver food. Greet and assist volunteers with loading, unloading and storing food. Manage food sorting events. Ensure warehouse is clean and organized and that all food is stored safely. Operate vehicles and equipment safely. Assist with building and grounds maintenance.
Specific Duties:
- Lead and direct all distribution floor functions.
- Receive shipments of food, unload trucks and properly store all food products in a manner consistent with established safety and health requirements.
- Stage food orders as directed by Manager of Warehouse Operations.
- Assist volunteers of Emergency Feeding Organizations by loading, unloading, delivering and storing food.
- Maintain a clean and orderly warehouse. Ensure that all food is stored safely.
- Operate vehicles and agency equipment safely. Maintain equipment and vehicles.
- Manage agency food sorting activity, directing volunteers and co-workers.
- Maintain exterior of building and grounds, mowing grass and shoveling snow.
- As appropriate, maintain interior of building, performing minor repairs and improvements.
- Provide support for community events and food drives, delivering supplies, picking up contributed food.
- Interact with all volunteers, co-workers and vendors with respect.
- Accurately document all services within the Agency computer files.
Other Duties:
- Attend agency staff and other required meetings and training opportunities.
- Perform other duties as requested by the Emergency Food Program Director.
- Assist with agency functions and events as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma
- 5 years food warehousing experience
- Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License and clean driving record
- Ability to lift 25-50 pound boxes consistently throughout a full day work shift
- Good verbal & written communication skills
- Customer service experience
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
- Knowledge of highways and roads of Milwaukee County
- Represent the agency in appositive manner
- Forklift and pallet jack certified
- Safe food handling training and experience
- Ability to work with diverse populations
Salary range: $30,000-$40,000.
