Getting low-income families the nutrition they need
For the coming year, our advocacy focus is on improving FoodShare, Wisconsin's food stamp program—specifically we plan to:
- Assist Milwaukee County in its effort to modernize and streamline the FoodShare application process.
- Help implement new federal rules set forth in the recently passed 2008 Farm Bill.
- Build on the successes of our Food Stamp Summit which brought federal, state and county officials together for the first time, at the same table to discuss the findings of our Food Stamp study from December 2005.
- Continue meeting with Federal, State and County officials to find solutions to the key issues that are facing FoodShare recipients.
- Continue to promote and assist the State in improving Wisconsin’s ACCESS web site, which allows residents to apply for health and nutritional services, including FoodShare.
