Government nutrition programs like school meals, FoodShare and WIC help feed thousands of individuals and families every year. Since our beginning work around the issue of school breakfast, Hunger Task Force has been an advocate to strengthen and improve these important programs. But we can't do it alone!
Community members can support our advocacy work by taking action on important anti-hunger public policy issues through joining Voices Against Hunger. "Taking action" could mean writing letters, sending emails, or making phone calls to County Supervisors, School Board members, or local newspapers. Interested Voices members can also attend meetings with elected officials or speak out against hunger at public hearings.
Join Voices and get involved in our advocacy work by contacting Mary Ryan, organizer, at (414) 238-6471 or email Mary.
1 in 3 children in Milwaukee lives in poverty. A strong child nutrition policy can help reach President Obama’s goal of ending childhood hunger by 2015. We need your help to tell Congress that Child Nutrition Reauthorization should be a key priority!
