Pantries and Meal Sites

food pantry volunteerHunger Task Force serves 60 food pantries and 20 meal programs & homeless shelters providing food and other resources FREE OF CHARGE.  The pantries, meal sites and homeless shelters are all independent organizations that agree to uphold our Standards of Excellence in regard to the high levels of operations, food quality and customer service provided.  These organizations in our network rely heavily on volunteer power to accomplish their services.

In general, pantry volunteers pack food bags, sort donated food, stock shelves, unload food deliveries, assist clients with transporting food, and depending on the site, complete intake paperwork or data entry.  Some volunteers assist with home food deliveries to shut-ins.

Meal site volunteers assist with the following: meal preparation and service, pouring beverages, dining area set up and clean-up duties, unload food deliveries & stock shelves and greet guests and track the number of meals served.

Most organizations request that volunteers are at least 16 years of age and are able to lift 25 to 50 lbs.  Direct Service Assistants are NOT required to attend a Hunger Task Force’s orientation, but may be asked to attend an orientation or training session at the site selected.   Please feel free contact these organizations directly to coordinate your donation of time.

Listed below are a few sites looking for Direct Service Assistants.
