Hunger and poverty are on the rise in Wisconsin making Voices Against Hunger's advocacy work to end hunger more urgent than ever! Sign up today!

  • 1 in 10 Wisconsin residents lives in poverty and 1 in 4 Milwaukee residents live in poverty.
  • Milwaukee County has nearly 200,000 people enrolled in FoodShare, the highest participation rate ever.
  • Over 130,000 people statewide participate in the Wisconsin Women, Infant and Children (WIC) program.
  • Milwaukee's summer feeding program, Fueling Young Minds, distributed over 1 million meals in 2008.

Voices Against Hunger needs your help to make fighting hunger a top priority for our elected representatives. Now is an exciting time to join Voices Against Hunger - President Obama has pledged to end child hunger by 2015 and Congress will pass Child Nutrition Reauthorization in the spring which regulates all of the federal child nutrition programs, including summer meals, WIC and school breakfast and lunch.

Voices Against Hunger members take at least one action per year. "Action" means everything from making phone calls, writing letters to the editor, or sending emails to meeting with public officials or participating in outreach activities in schools or county and state government. Voices Against Hunger members who are looking to be more involved can join the Leadership Team and help drive Hunger Task Force's advocacy agenda.

Join Voices Against Hunger today by creating an account on our website right here, or emailing your name, address, and phone number to Mary Ryan at mary @ hungertaskforce.org.
