Seeking Stockbox Canvassing Volunteers!

June 28, 2010

Until July 30, 2010, the Stockbox program is increasing its monthly delivery caseload from 5,000 to 9,500. Hunger Task Force needs your help getting the word out to seniors over sixty years living on a fixed income who could use $75 worth of free food every month.

Hunger Task Force is seeking volunteers to walk neighborhoods near Stockbox distribution sites and hang signs on the doors of nearby homes to inform residents that their local Stockbox site is accepting new enrollments!

Volunteers are needed on these dates for the following sites:

July 26
Hart Park Community Center

7300 W. Chestnut Ave
Wauwatosa 53213

July 27
Washington Park Senior Center
4420 W. Vilet
Milwaukee 53208

Sign up or learn more by contacting Mary or call (414) 238-6471. Learn more about the Stockbox program here.

Interested in Stockbox canvassing? Here’s more information:

  • All neighborhood canvassers will start their route by meeting at Hunger Task Force (201 S. Hawley Court, just west of Miller Park. Take the Hawley Road exit off of I-94, go south under the expressway, and Hawley Court is the first road on your left. )
  • Distributing door hangers takes about three hours. The time is flexible, but all canvassing must be done on the indicated date.
  • All neighborhood canvassers must participate in pairs or small groups! This is a great opportunity for companies seeking to give back to the community with a teamwork activity. It is also ideal for high school and college students, friends, families, and community volunteers.
  • At least one volunteer must possess a vehicle to assist in transportation to the canvassing site.
  • Dress comfortably for the weather! Wear tennis shoes and be prepared to stand/walk around at length.
