In response to this alarming escalation in obesity, the National WIC Association Board Chair, Patti Hauser, Wisconsin State WIC Director, joined Maxine Hayes, State Health Officer Washington State, and Susan Forrester, California Department of Health, on March 23 to discuss issues related to WIC’s role in stemming childhood obesity.
WIC stands for the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children. WIC is one of the federal child nutrition programs to be reauthorized in the Child Nutrition Act Reauthorization process this summer.
