The 2011 Summer Meals season will kick off on Tuesday, June 7! We need your help to promote the availability of summer meals at each of the hundreds of participating sites in Milwaukee.

Volunteers can donate their time as individuals or sign up with a partner or small group. It is not necessary to attend Hunger Task Force’s volunteer orientation to participate in this activity.

When

Volunteers are preferred to be available on Tuesday, June 7 from 9:00am-1:00pm, starting the morning at Hunger Task Force’s office at 201 S. Hawley Ct.  If unavailable during the kick off, arrangements may be made so you can sign up to deliver signs anytime between June 7-June 12. A minimum of 3 hours of availability is preferred.

What Will I Do?

Summer meals kickoff volunteers will:

• Drive to multiple summer meals sites located in Milwaukee, Cudahy, South Milwaukee, West Allis or West Milwaukee.
• Zip tie signs to fences or pitching signs in the ground in front of summer meals sites.
• Deliver signs rain or shine!

Requirements:

• Access to reliable automobile which space to transport yard signs and wire frames. Use of county bus is not viable.
• You must be in good physical condition and able to walk and stand at length.
• You need to be able to lift at least 25 pounds.
• You must be 18 years or older or in a small group with at least one adult. School-aged children only please.
• Wear tennis shoes or work boots on your feet. NO sandals, open toe or flimsy shoes for safety reasons!
• All volunteers will be provided with a Hunger Task Force volunteer t-shirt which must be worn while you post signs.
