Eighth Annual WMSE Rockabilly Chili Contest!

March 07, 2010

The WMSE Rockabilly Chili Contest will take place at MSOE’s Kern Center, 1245 N Broadway, on Sunday, March 7th, from 11:00AM to 4:00PM featuring 48 restaurants, taverns, and cafés offering 57 varieties of chili (42 meat, 15 vegetarian).

New to this year’s event will be WMSE’s Fist Full of Fire Hot Sauce. “When you think of WMSE, we hope a part of you thinks food,” says Station Manager, Tom Crawford. He continues, “Especially hot food. We love spice and peppers and hot sauce, so the logical next step was to offer our own brand of hot sauce. The guys at MBF Sauces nailed the flavor for us, and we are so happy we were able to partner with a local company on this. They make stunning hot sauce, not just those gimmicky burn-your-face-off sauces you see at State Fair. These guys treat their sauces like they treat their namesake, Man’s Best Friend.”

Admission is $6 at the door, and tickets for individual two-ounce bowls of chili are just $1. The ample street parking around the Kern Center is free on Sundays, and additional free parking is available on the MSOE campus in the lot at Broadway & Highland. Donations of non-perishable food items will be accepted for Milwaukee’s Hunger Task Force upon entry to the event. Each entrant that brings 4 or more non-perishable food items will receive two tickets redeemable for two chili samples. Limit two tickets per person.
