We are so glad and grateful during the holiday season when the Milwaukee community opens its heart and gives back, with food drives, donations, and volunteering their time. With that in mind, we’re afraid folks forget that people are still going hungry while the temperature is 80 and the sun is shining. Hunger is a 365 day a year problem and we need your help year-round, keep in mind Summer officially begins on June 21st!
Seven reasons to hold a Summer food drive!
1. All you do during summer is eat! Barbecues, tailgate parties, and picnics are a great base for a food drive. Food is already on the brain.
2. Umm, ever heard of Spring Cleaning? Clean out those cupboards!
3. We bet your co-workers would donate a bunch of food in return for a shorts day or ice cream day. Or both.
4. It is easier to pick up boxes and drop off food at the Hunger Task Force warehouse when it isn’t snowing sideways.
5. It’s a better activity for your kids while they are out of school than playing video games and burning ants with a magnifying glass.
6. Lifting huge bags of cans is a great workout to get you ready for the beach.
7. Because people are hungry and you can easily make a difference.
Don’t wait until you have to turn on the furnace and wear boots to leave the house. Host a food drive today!
