On Wednesday, March 31 Palermo Pizza partnered with Hunger Task Force to assemble and deliver 1,000 Easter baskets of food to community families who would not otherwise be able to enjoy a holiday meal. This year’s Easter Baskets for the Hungry program will provide meals to twice as many families as in previous years.

This year, the company’s goal was to raise $50,000 to fill the 1,000 Easter baskets and provide families with enough food for one week. Baskets include holiday favorites such as ham, jellybeans and all the ingredients for green bean casserole.

“We are especially pleased that we have doubled our efforts and will feed twice as many people this year. We extend a special thank you to our community partners who have helped us continue this Easter tradition,” said Giacomo Fallucca, president and CEO, Palermo Villa Inc.

Milwaukee has the eleventh highest poverty rate in the nation, as one in four of its citizens and one in three children live in poverty. Palermo’s partnership with Hunger Task Force emphasizes the company’s commitment to reduce the number of families who go without a meal this season.

Joining the Easter basket filling fun were Palermo Villa employees, Hunger Task Force volunteers, Milwaukee County executive Scott Walker and even the Easter Bunny.
