Milwaukee County has been awarded a grant from the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program. Hunger Task Force has been selected to administer the funds to emergency food programs within Milwaukee County. The application forms and detailed instructions outline who is eligible to apply, what the funds are to be used for and how to complete the application process. The selection was made by a National Board that is chaired by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Under the terms of the grant, local organizations chosen to receive funds must: 1. Be private, voluntary non-profits or units of government 2. Have an accounting system 3. Practice nondiscrimination 4. Have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency and/or shelter programs 5. If they are a private voluntary organization, must have a voluntary board. Qualifying organizations are urged to apply. Public or private voluntary organizations interested in applying for Emergency Food and Shelter Program funds must contact Marcus White at Interfaith Conference of Greater Milwaukee at (414) 276-9050 for more information on how to apply. The deadline for submitting an application is 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2008. If you have further questions please contact Kathy Glaser at Kathy@Hungertaskforce.org.
