Madeline Kay's Blog

Tuesday, Sept. 18

Reader:

I ate ramen twice for dinner. It helped my stomach ache but not my headache. I feel icky, and tired. While my mom was away I ate a Klondike. This was cheating but I wanted one. It didn’t make me feel better. I got stuck on my basic facts test yesterday. I got stuck on 6 times 5 and it took me a minute to figure it out. Today was tiring. I can’t concentrate I feel like I should drop out of school. I need a big slushie.

Reader:

Madeline refuses the blog tonight—she is laying on the bed watching TV and has been in a foul mood since coming home. After a bit of prodding she says…

“Too crabby to write. I’m too tired and crabby and icky. Can’t do it. No way. Sick to my stomach.”

Today Madeline ate oatmeal and milk for breakfast; peanut butter, tortillas, watermelon and carrots for lunch and pasta with sauce for supper.

Sunday, Sept. 16

Reader,

I had a very pleasing Sunday. I think I’m starting to get used to the head and stomach aches. For breakfast I had of course, oatmeal. But today I had it differently, sometimes I don’t cook it. All you have to do is, take Quakers Packeted Oatmeal and add water. And VOILA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have delicious cold ,un-cooked oatmeal!!!!!!! To me it tastes great, but no one I know is willing to try!!! For Lunch I had Ramen Beef Flavor, and for dinner I had Rotini noodles but with a nasty tasting sauce. It was sweet tasting!!!! EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Saturday, Sept. 15

Reader,

Because today is Saturday, I had a late breakfast, and because me and my mom hated that Yoplait stuff, I begged with my mom to go to Pick’n Save to get me my tasty on sale oatmeal. I always have it, on schooldays or non (except on some Saturdays by my dads, then my sister Sam, makes her funky tasting Whole Wheat pancakes. Not my favorite food but not my least favorite either)! For lunch I had some Beef flavor Ramen. Once again I always have that so not much of a difference. The only outta the ordinary thing I ate today was a frozen Lasagna dinner, I’ve had one before, not half bad, could use some more cheese.

P.S. Last night my mom made slushies out of the frozen juice we got! yummy!!!!!!!

Friday, Sept. 14

So far I’ve been doing horrible. My friends such as Lauren, Kate, the other Lauren, Marina and Sabrina keep on gloating on how they have cookies and lunchables and treats in they’re lunches when I have next to nothing. Even my reading and social studies teacher Mr. Galineu (Gal-i-no) was eating Reeses Pieces during social studies!!!!!! Social Studies Was about the Explorers and how they were sent by they’re kings to find things in “The New World” a.k.a. soon to be America. The point is he had us do a simulation thingy where we acted like explorers and tried to find “Brown Gold” which was Reeses Pieces. My group which was England found it, but I couldn’t have a bite because I’m on the Food Stamp Challenge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For Breakfast this morning I had Yoplait Whips Chocolate Mousse yogurt. Sounds good doesn’t it???? NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Those things are disgusting!!! And I still have 4 left!!!! Ewwwwwwwwwwwww! For snack I had a few spoonfuls of peanut butter, and for lunch I had another few scoops of peanut butter, tortilla and of course the milk from the school. For dinner I had the best meal so far, pasta and sauce!!!!!

talk to you tomorrow!

Hello, I am Madeline Kay and I am taking “The Food Stamp Challenge.” I’m 10 years old and live in Wauwatosa, WI. “The Food Stamp Challenge” is a challenge to help spread awareness about hunger in Wisconsin and the U.S.A. What you do is, you live on $21 for a week, a dollar a meal (which is the average amount hungry people get in food stamps for a week,). You cannot use coupons or accept any outside help, no public meals and no friends having you over for dinner either. Starting Thursday, I will be writing a blog everyday to tell you how I am doing. There's still time to sign up!
