Hunger Task Force serves 60 food pantries delivering food to them FREE OF CHARGE. Food pantry assistants pack food bags, assist clients with transporting food and intake paperwork. Most pantries request that volunteers are age 16 or older, able to lift up to 30 pounds, and are available long-term for a weekly or bi-weekly shift. Food pantry assistants are NOT required to attend Hunger Task Force’s orientation.
- AIDS Resource Center Food Pantry is looking for regular, consistent volunteers to assist with packing of food bags, sorting food, stocking shelves and assisting with home deliveries. - Daystar Women’s Shelter needs female volunteers to prepare evening meal/meals (Monday-Friday) for 5-10 residents. We need female volunteers for second and third shift house monitor duties. (days will vary) For more information, contact the director, Mary Fran at (414) 385-0334.
- Ebenezer Lutheran Church Food Pantry, 1127 S. 35th St. is in need of people who can volunteer from 8:30 am – noon on Wednesday’s and Saturday’s on a regular basis. Spanish speaking a plus!! - Family Life Center at St. Stephen’s Church at 5880 s. Howell Ave. is in need of volunteers on delivery days (Thursday’s at the beginning of the month) to help unload the truck and stock shelves. Contact Debby at (414) 483-2685 or flcenter @ saintstephenmil.org.
- Friedens Community Pantry at 1220 W. Vilet St. The lower level of the Marcia P. Coggs Health and Human Services building. We need pantry assistants for intake, sorting donations, pulling orders, packing bags and data entry. Times needed are Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m.–4 p.m. working a 4-hour shift and possibly working up to 20 hours per week. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds for packing bags. - St. Hyacinth’s Food Pantry at 1414 W. Belcher St needs volunteers on Wednesdays from 3:30 – 6 p.m. providing services such as greeter, registrar, usher, data entry assistant, food distributor or packer.
