Steps to Promote Your Event
We want you to have the most successful food drive or fundraiser possible! If you have any questions along the way, contact Hunger Task Force by email. Here are some recommended steps to consider as you plan your event:

1. Learn More About Hunger We want you to be informed about hunger issues and have an understanding of how your food drive or fundraiser directly affects the hungry in Milwaukee. Visit our Hunger Facts pages to better educate yourself and donors during your event.

2. Set Food and Fundraising Goals Before Starting Give your group something to work toward by setting goals to help you determine your strategies for collecting donations. 1,000 pounds? $1,000? Remember—for every $1 raised, Hunger Task Force can purchase $2 worth of food in bulk!

3. Register Your Event and Begin Planning! In order for Hunger Task Force to accommodate, post and promote your food drive or fundraiser, we need to know the details. Register your event and then begin planning! Form teams to work on publicity, fundraising, food collection, food delivery or a kick-off event. The more people working on your event will create more excitement, creativity, enthusiasm—and success!

4. Publicize Your Event Publicity is the key to a successful event—people need to know what your event entails and when it's happening in order to make it successful! Hunger Task Force can provide posters for you to display (please indicate your needs when you register your event). Also visit Steps to Promote Your Food Drive or Fundraiser for some ideas.

5. Collect Food or Funds Donations For food drives: Hunger Task Force has collapsible collection boxes available so they easily fit into an automobile. If you feel that you're going to need a collection box, indicate so when you register your event. Once you've registered your event you can pick up your box(es) Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. at loading dock #1 located at 201 S. Hawley Court. Each box holds about 300 pounds of food and cannot be moved easily when full.

Help keep costs low! After your event is complete, please drop off any food donations at loading dock #1 at our facility (Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. at 201 S. Hawley Court). If your food collection is going to be more than 500 pounds and cannot fit in a car, please request a pickup date when you register your event. In order for Hunger Task Force to pick up food timely and efficiently, please have all food in collection boxes, on a ground floor and near a doorway.

For fundraising: We request that all coin and bill donations are exchanged for a check, money order or cashier's check before forwarding to Hunger Task Force. Checks should be made out to "Hunger Task Force" and sent to 201 S. Hawley Court, Milwaukee, WI 53214.

6. Receive Results Once we receive your food or financial contribution, we will send a thank you letter that summarizes your contribution.
