Learn About Hunger

Learn About Hunger

Since 1974, an important part of Hunger Task Force’s mission has been educating the public about hunger. Understanding poverty and hunger prepares our community to relieve hunger more effectively and helps to raise awareness in the fight against hunger.

You can learn about hunger by reading through our online library. Hunger Task Force publishes monthly fact sheets on hunger, poverty, and our emergency food distribution efforts. You can also read reports from our Congressional Hunger Fellows and debrief other data on government nutrition programs which help fight hunger in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and throughout the nation.

Could you eat like you do every day on a food stamp budget? The Associated Press challenged two chefs and a food magazine editor to plan out seven days of meals for a family of four using a food stamp budget of $68.88. See the results here.

Looking for a more interactive approach to learning about hunger? Hunger Task Force is available to lead a Food for Today, give tours of our facility, and speak to your group. Please contact our educator, Kevin Ronnie at kevin @ hungertaskforce.org or (414) 238-6470 for more information or to schedule your Food for Today simulation!
