Connecting Farms to Families is a statewide partnership between Hunger Task Force, the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP), producers and hunger relief organizations across Wisconsin.
Funded by a $2.5M grant through the Food Security and Wisconsin Products grant program, Connecting Farms to Families uniquely supports Wisconsin agriculture and local hunger relief efforts. Hunger Task Force invests 100% of the grant funds to purchase Wisconsin foods from small- to mid-size farmers, ranchers and producers. These foods—including meat, dairy, fruits, vegetables, eggs, grains and value-added items—are then provided absolutely free of charge to food pantries, nonprofits and Tribal Nations through direct distribution and the Wisconsin Food Hub Cooperative.
To date, Hunger Task Force has purchased foods from nearly 600 producers in 66 Wisconsin counties and delivered those products to nearly 250 hunger relief organizations across the state.

Tortilleria Zepeda Brings the Flavors of Mexico to More Households Across Wisconsin through Connecting Farms to Families
Tortilleria Zepeda participates in Hunger Task Force’s Connecting Farms to Families program. A mix of grant funding from the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) and community donations to Hunger Task Force’s Farm to Food Bank Fund are used to pay for every order received and Hunger Task Force also covers all delivery fees.
Hunger Task Force’s Connecting Farms to Families Program Links Wisconsin Emergency Food Providers with Fresh Produce from Maiv Flower Farm
At Maiv Flower Farm, Pa and her mother grow peas, carrots and bell peppers for the Connecting Farms to Families program. To ensure they can meet the demand of participating emergency food organizations, they dedicate 25% of the farm to growing the fresh vegetables for the program.

The BRICK is using a $40,000 Connecting Farms to Families grant from Hunger Task Force to purchase fresh, locally produced foods from Wisconsin farmers, helping stock pantry shelves with nutritious options for nearly 550 households each month in Ashland and Bayfield counties.
