Donate. (do-nate) - To present as a gift to a fund or cause; contribute.
To donate is to give what you have so others do not have to go without. Whether it is your money, cans or boxes of food, or your time, Hunger Task Force could not exist without our donors. As a fully donor-supported agency, YOU are the reason over the past year we were able to deliver 8.5 million pounds of food, free of charge to the 80 food pantries, soup kitchens, and homeless shelters in our network. We charge no per poundage fees, no membership fees, no delivery fees, no “shared maintenance” costs. All your food donations are re-gifted to programs giving it to the poor. There are almost no food banks in the entire nation that can state this. And absolutely no one else in Milwaukee.
Your donation can do more than just pay for food and making sure its delivered locally for free. It can effect change in legislation to protect the hungry. Our advocates lobby your representatives for common-sense solutions to ending hunger, including leading community education and outreach, and working directly with community leaders on feeding the poor.
We are Local. We are Free. We Feed Milwaukee, and we can do it because of YOUR generosity. Thank you, on behalf of our staff, our board, and the people we serve.
You have several options when donating to Hunger Task Force.
At Hunger Task Force, we turn your money into food. But that’s not all that cash donation can do to fight hunger, though. We deliver our food FREE of charge to our network of food pantries, soup kitchens, and homeless shelters. No agency in our network pays a penny to receive our food. It wouldn’t be right. Think about it. These locations are run mainly by volunteers out of the goodness of their heart on a shoestring budget. We believe that it’s more important to remove barriers between the food we provide and the people who need it, and that means getting that food to them for free... but it isn’t free to deliver food. We use donations to pay for trucks, warehouse space, even gas. All of the costs that make delivering food so expensive. It’s a necessary evil, but we refuse to pass it along.
Here’s how you can make your cash donation!
And of course, your donation to Hunger Task Force is tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

It feels good to drop a can or a box in a barrel, doesn’t it? That’s the old school way of feeding the hungry, with actual food. And remember, Hunger is a 365 day a year problem. We need your donations year-round, and not just when the holidays come around. Hold your own food drive! Pick a specific item or take all comers. Make it a competition between departments at work, classes at school or your neighbors. Register your drive here.

To keep overhead down, Hunger Task Force has a bare-bones staff and relies on volunteers to help us through the crazy times of the year. We need help in all areas of our agency, whether it is in the warehouse, at a pantry or soup kitchen, or around the office! But you need to go through a quick, easy (no, really), and educational orientation. For a list of orientations, click here.
