Meet This Season’s Farm Hands Helping Hunger Task Force Grow Fresh, Culturally Responsive Produce

Jun 20, 2025

Spanning 208 acres in Franklin, Wisconsin, the Hunger Task Force Farm is a unique source of fresh produce and a vital resource for the community. Each growing season, Hunger Task Force hires talented Farm Hands who work alongside our full-time farm staff and volunteers to grow over half a million pounds of fruits and vegetables that are the primary source of fresh produce distributed through our food bank to our network of local pantries, meal programs and shelters across Milwaukee County.

This year, three individuals will join Hunger Task Force as Farm Hands – Amber Burdette, Adrianna Henry and Adam Remington.

Amber Burdette is a returning Farm Hand having helped harvest fresh fruits and vegetables in 2022. During her time on The Farm this growing season, she works alongside Hunger Task Force farmers and volunteers to assist with seeding, transplanting, harvesting and overall farm production. She is thrilled to continue honing her farming and agricultural skills and enriching her passion for growing food. Amber thrives when she can make an impact in her community. She believes access to fresh food is not a privilege, but a human right.

Adrianna Henry will spend her first growing season on the Hunger Task Force Farm. In her role as a Farm Hand, she supports Hunger Task Force farmers and volunteers to achieve short- and long-term production goals. Adrianna joined the team because she wants to feed people while learning new farming skills. She takes pride in being the hands that take a seed to plate. Adrianna believes that everyone deserves access to fresh food and the education to cook it in their kitchens.

Adam Remington is also returning to The Farm after enjoying his first growing season last year. In his role as a Farm Hand, he assists volunteer groups working in the fields, harvest haus, natural areas and hoop houses. Prior to joining the team at Hunger Task Force, Adam learned about the farm through his previous role at the Franklin Fire Department. Upon his retirement, he intended to be a regular farm volunteer. As he spent more time on the farm, he honed his skills and knew a part-time position was perfect to fulfill his passion and accommodate his schedule. Not only does Adam love working outside in such a beautiful environment, but he also takes pride in being an integral part of the passionate and dedicated farm team committed to feeding people in need.
