Arvind Gopalratnam Champions Milwaukee Bucks’ Volunteer Efforts to Feed Families in Need

Feb 10, 2026

Over the past 10 seasons, the Milwaukee Bucks have made a concerted effort to help address the issues Milwaukee residents are facing. In Milwaukee County, one in six people live in poverty. This staggering statistic underscores the need to mobilize to make sure those who need food support can receive it with dignity and in their neighborhood.

“Over the past few months, we’ve worked to increase our support of organizations like Hunger Task Force addressing hunger and bring more attention to the roles we can play to feed people in need,” says Arvind Gopalratnam, Senior Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility for the Milwaukee Bucks.

In late 2025, the Milwaukee Bucks held their first Volundeer Day at Hunger Task Force’s headquarters in West Milwaukee. Knowing how Hunger Task Force can adapt volunteer events to fit a company’s needs, Arvind reached out to coordinate a meaningful way for 300 team employees to work together to help feed our neighbors.

During the first annual Volundeer Day, players and staff sorted 27,000 lbs. of healthy food, prepared 2,000 bags of healthy meals and assembled 1,200 Stockboxes filled with shelf-stable food for local seniors.

“The staff at Hunger Task Force are the most welcoming, incredible group of colleagues to work with,” adds Arvind. “Our Volundeer Day is the start of a long-term partnership with Hunger Task Force and I’m proud of what we were able to accomplish in just a few hours.”

Following the largescale volunteer event, several groups of employees from the Milwaukee Bucks have come back to the Hunger Task Force volunteer center to build Stockboxes for seniors and sort healthy food to feed even more families. What’s more, departments within the organization registered to host a food drive to help feed additional families over the winter holidays and in early 2026.

“For more employees to also feel that connection, to be rewarded and to know their hard work is helping put food on the tables for our community members, I know they’re just as proud as me,” says Arvind. “We’re really excited to think about what the next activity can be and how we can engage more volunteers for this meaningful work.”

Arvind’s message to other large, local organizations is simple – create awareness about a cause that fits your company’s ethos. Whether that be volunteering, hosting a drive or making a company donation, contribute to a cause and/or create opportunities for your colleagues to have fun while making an impact on the lives of their neighbors in need.
