Hunger Task Force Hosts Summer Meals Kickoff at Stark Playfield on June 25th
Press conference will mark the beginning of free meal service for kids and teens in Milwaukee County at 180 sites
When: Wednesday, June 25th at 12:15 p.m.
Where: Stark Playfield, 4951 N. 40th Street (street parking is available)
What: Hunger Task Force, alongside key local partners, will kick off the Milwaukee Summer Meals Program at Stark Playfield. This summer, kids and teens (18 and under) are invited to visit one of 180 sites throughout Milwaukee County for nutritious and delicious summer meals.
Through this city-wide collaboration, partners are predicted to serve more than 500,000 free meals to Milwaukee kids.
Numerous organizations support Milwaukee’s Summer Meals Program including the USDA, Kohl’s, No Kid Hungry, Centers for Independence, West Allis-West Milwaukee School District, Salvation Army, Milwaukee County Parks, the School District of Cudahy, COA Youth & Family Centers, the School District of Greenfield, Up Christian Academy, St. Francis School District, Rocketship Transformation Prep, Rocketship Southside Community Prep, the YMCA, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee, MKE REC and the Milwaukee Police and Sheriff’s Office.
Financial support from Kohl’s will provide many sites with daily suppers for children in need outside of daycares and elementary schools.

Hunger Task Force is Milwaukee’s Free & Local food bank and Wisconsin’s anti-hunger leader. The organization provides healthy and nutritious food to hungry children, families and seniors in the community absolutely free of charge. Hunger Task Force was founded in 1974 by a local advocacy group who then formed Milwaukee’s first food bank. Today, Hunger Task Force is 100% supported by the community and provides a safety net of emergency food with dignity to a network of food pantries, soup kitchens and homeless shelters.
