Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program

The Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program provides low-income seniors with $25 in vouchers that can be exchanged for eligible foods at farmers’ markets, roadside stands and community-supported agriculture programs. Every eligible senior may apply, and households are no longer limited to one set of vouchers. Vouchers are available on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last.

Qualified Recipients:

  • Are 60 years or older (55 years or older for Indigenous Elders)
  • Are Milwaukee County residents
  • Have a monthly income of less than;
    • $2,413 for a household of one
    • $3,261 for a household of two
    • Add $848 for every additional household member

Hunger Task Force distributes vouchers for Milwaukee County.

Live outside Milwaukee County? Click the link below for contact information for your local agency to apply for vouchers in your area.

There are two ways to apply!

    1. At an in-person voucher distribution
    2. From home (submitted by mail, dropped off, emailed or through our online form)

To apply for the vouchers, seniors must include a legible, completely filled-out application; signatures may be typed. Unless you apply for and receive vouchers at one of our three in-person distributions, all vouchers will be mailed to you for safety and convenience.

*Lost vouchers or vouchers not received through the mail cannot be replaced. If you have questions, call Hunger Task Force at 414.909.9101.

In-person Voucher Distributions:

Download, print and fill out your application; bringing a completed form will help speed up the process. If needed, applications will be available on-site. If someone else (a proxy) is turning in your application, it must be completed and signed by you ahead of time. No exceptions.

Using your FoodShare benefits at the farmers’ market:

Bring some cash with you to the market. Vendors will not give you change for the vouchers, so you can stretch them further if you have a few bucks on hand.

    Helpful Tips:

Add leftover produce to casseroles or soups so food doesn’t go to waste.

Don’t overspend when shopping. Plan a menu and buy groceries accordingly.

Freeze what you can’t eat now to enjoy later. Freeze produce at peak season or when it’s on sale.

Go home directly after shopping and store items in the refrigerator to keep produce crisp.

Wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly with cold water for 1 minute or until all dirt and dust is removed before eating or cooking.

Want to grow your own herbs and vegetables? You can buy seeds and plants with your EBT card!
