Alicia’s Place FoodShare Resource Center continues its community impact

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — About a quarter of a million people living in Milwaukee County rely on the FoodShare program and many people need help getting the access they need.
Alicia’s Place FoodShare Resource Center has been a vital part of the community since 2021. Located at 4144 North 56th Street in Midtown Center, low-income families are welcome to get the help they need. It’s one of two FoodShare benefits outreach offices.
The one that came before it is located on the south side and is called Robles Self-Service Center.
Thousands of community members are served each year. Alicia’s Place is named after Alicia Williams, a Milwaukee woman who has dedicated her life to helping people in the community.
“We wanted to choose someone that was living and honor their service to the community, and we chose Alicia,” said Hunger Task Force CEO, Sherrie Tussler.
Low-income families can get help with FoodShare benefits and other important resources.
“What Hunger Task Force does is run these self-service locations so that people can just walk in and either use our equipment to take care of themselves or get advice from someone who looks like them,” said Tussler.
All are welcome and there are Hunger Task Force staff members who can guide people through what they need.
“We have one employee who is here at Alicia’s Place who speaks about five languages,” said Tussler.
Walk-ins are welcome Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
