Hunger Task Force Volunteers Make an Impact One Stockbox at a Time

As the Volunteer Coordinator at Hunger Task Force, one of the most fulfilling parts of my job is seeing the impact our incredible volunteers make in our community. At Hunger Task Force, we rely on over 15,000 volunteers every year and their passion and energy help drive our mission forward. From food sorting and building healthy food boxes for seniors to assisting individuals as they shop at the Mobile Market, volunteers help Hunger Task Force feed people today and work toward ending future hunger.

In my role, I love helping create an environment where our volunteers feel motivated, engaged and appreciated. It’s not just about getting the job done. It’s also about making the whole experience fun and rewarding for everyone involved. Volunteers are giving their time, so I make sure they feel good about it. When volunteers enjoy what they’re doing, they put their all into it. The passion they bring is contagious, and it inspires me to keep working harder toward our mission.

One of the volunteer opportunities I lead the most – and what I believe is the most fulfilling one – is the Stockbox build for low-income seniors.  All of the nearly 10,000 Stockboxes our volunteers help us build each month are distributed to seniors in need of food support throughout Wisconsin. A Stockbox is a box of shelf-stable healthy foods Hunger Task Force delivers to low-income seniors free of charge.

Watching volunteers work together to pack these boxes and then seeing how each one directly impacts someone’s life brings me immense joy. When I facilitate group Stockbox builds, I can feel the energy and motivation when everyone knows they’re doing something good for their community.

Hunger Task Force volunteers come from all walks of life, but they all share the same drive to make the world a better place. This is why creating an experience that’s both impactful and fun is so important.

Every time I see the joy and energy our volunteers bring, I’m reminded of why I love doing this work. I truly believe that together, we can make a lasting change. So, to all our amazing volunteers, thank you a million times for everything you do and know you’re making a difference and inspiring me every day.

There’s always space for more. Come and join us – learn more about volunteering here!
