Volunteer of the Month: Kyle Sorby

Nov 2, 2026

Volunteers play a critical role in Hunger Task Force’s Free & Local mission. Each year, more than 14,300 volunteers support our work to feed people today and end future hunger. By sharing their time, skills and energy, volunteers help make it possible for us to provide healthy food with dignity to kids, families and older adults across our community.

This month, we are honored to recognize Kyle Sorby as our Volunteer of the Month. Kyle’s commitment to service and passion for helping others have made a meaningful impact across Hunger Task Force’s volunteer programs.

“When I found out Hunger Task Force provided this food free of charge, I wanted to find out how I could support the organization,” shares Kyle.

Kyle first learned about Hunger Task Force while volunteering at his local food pantry. After seeing the quality and variety of healthy food available to neighbors in need, he was impressed to learn that Hunger Task Force provided that food at no cost to local pantry partners. Inspired by the organization’s mission and impact, he decided to get involved as a volunteer.

Since then, Kyle has embraced opportunities to support Hunger Task Force while working alongside fellow volunteers and staff members who share a commitment to ending hunger. He values the positive energy of volunteer shifts, the opportunity to tackle meaningful work and the satisfaction of seeing the results of those efforts firsthand.

“The staff and volunteers are all amazing, kind and hardworking people,” says Kyle. “The volunteers are always excited and have a good time while making a difference. The work is invigorating and challenging in a great way. It is wonderful to be able to see a tangible finished product after the shift ends.”

For Kyle, volunteering is rewarding because it creates a direct connection between service and community impact. Knowing that his efforts help improve lives throughout the region motivates him to continue giving back.

“Hunger Task Force has been great to work with, and I feel lucky to be able to continue to volunteer with them in the future.”

We are grateful for Kyle’s dedication and the many ways he supports Hunger Task Force’s mission. Thank you, Kyle, for your time, enthusiasm and service to our community.
