Partner of the Month: CareSource

Dec 15, 2025

Hunger Task Force isn’t just Milwaukee Free & Local food bank – we’re a community. We believe in the power of collaboration, and that’s why we’re thrilled to recognize our amazing supporters through “Partner of the Month,” a platform to celebrate the incredible local organizations, businesses and companies who join us in the fight against hunger. They donate food, volunteer their time, raise awareness and provide financial support – strengthening our work in preventing hunger and malnutrition by providing food to people in need today and by promoting social policies to achieve a hunger-free community tomorrow.

CareSource

A national nonprofit managed care organization serving more than 2 million members across 14 states, CareSource is committed to improving health outcomes for the people and communities they serve. Here in Wisconsin, that commitment is demonstrated through meaningful investment, active volunteerism, and a shared belief that access to nutritious food is essential to long-term health and well-being.

Since 2022, CareSource—formerly known in Wisconsin as Common Ground Healthcare Cooperative—has contributed $85,184 and donated 10,256 pounds of food to Hunger Task Force. This sustained support underscores a core truth: nutrition is a foundation of good health, and combating food insecurity is inseparable from improving community wellness. CareSource recognizes that healthy lifestyles begin with consistent access to healthy foods, especially for families facing barriers to care.

CareSource’s impact continues well beyond financial giving. Their employees generously volunteer their time across Hunger Task Force programs, helping meet rising needs throughout Milwaukee County. More than 80 CareSource volunteers have contributed over 240 hours of service, building 2,000 Stockboxes, sorting over 10,000 pounds of donated food and dedicating 45 hours to food collection at the Wisconsin State Fair. Their reliability and enthusiasm make them a valued partner in year-round hunger relief efforts. Notably, CareSource leader Gail Bolden, who has helped organize and inspire much of this work, was named a Hunger Task Force Volunteer of the Month for her outstanding contributions.

CareSource also supports Hunger Task Force through the excitement of football season. In partnership with the Green Bay Packers, CareSource donates $1,000 to Hunger Task Force for every Packers sack, turning game-day success into concrete resources that feed local families.

We are proud to honor CareSource as our Partner of the Month. Through financial support, volunteerism, food drives, and resource referrals, CareSource demonstrates what it means to stand alongside neighbors and invest in a community where everyone can thrive.
