Partner of the Month: Garden Club of Greater Milwaukee
Garden Club of Greater Milwaukee
The Garden Club of Greater Milwaukee (GCGM) is involved in the management of the Hunger Task Force Farm’s perennial garden area and has beautified the space with a new pollinator bed. The perennial garden is nearly 9,000 square feet. GCGM is helping to provide plant and tree identification and removal for better spacing and determining the appearance of the existing, but not running, pond, which is central to the garden.
GGCM’s volunteer involvement also includes supporting school groups that participate in the nutrition education program. GGCM is identifying tasks students can take to help beautify the space and learn about gardening.
Members of GCGM find the volunteer involvement on The Farm so rewarding. Connecting with nature in the garden allows them to have an impact at a valuable community resource. They have found it to be a pleasure to work together and make a difference at The Farm.
