50 Faces. 50 Stories. 50 Years of Fighting Hunger.

Hunger Task Force is proud to be Milwaukee’s only Free & Local food bank and Wisconsin’s anti-hunger leader. In celebration of our 50th Anniversary, Hunger Task Force is highlighting “50 Faces of Ending Hunger,” honoring the anti-hunger heroes who champion Free & Local and support our mission to end hunger.

For decades, the Quadracci family has been a cornerstone of philanthropy in Wisconsin and a driving force in the fight against hunger in Milwaukee. Their longstanding support for Hunger Task Force exemplifies their deep commitment to the well-being of their community, extending far beyond their prominent contributions to education, community development and the arts.

“We at Hunger Task Force are incredibly grateful to the Quadracci family,” said Jonathan Hansen, Chief Strategy Officer. “The Quadraccis’ vision and generosity have demonstrably improved the lives of countless families, and we are honored to partner with them in our mission to end hunger in Milwaukee.”

The Quadraccis’ philanthropic philosophy, guided by the family’s Catholic and Jesuit values, is grounded in a deep sense of community responsibility. Harry and Betty Quadracci, co-founders of Quad/Graphics (now simply Quad), recognized the interconnectedness of Milwaukee, understanding that we are bound by a shared experience, and the struggles of one resident are felt by others. This perspective, shared by the family, fostered a commitment to not only support their employees, but also the broader community.

The Quadracci family’s dedication to ending hunger is exemplified by their sustained support of Hunger Task Force. Gifts made through their foundation, the Windhover Foundation, private gifts from the family and support from Quad, have been a critical source of funding in Hunger Task Force’s work to end hunger. “We are proud to support the Hunger Task Force and its mission to address food insecurities in our community,” shared Joel Quadracci, Chairman, President & CEO of Quad.

Kathryn Quadracci Flores, MD, CEO of QuadMed and President of the Windhover Foundation, understands that nutrition is a social determinant of good health. “By investing in equitable access to nutritious foods, we are investing in the potential of individuals and communities. When people are well-nourished, they can thrive – in school, at work, and in their personal lives,” she shared.

The Quadracci family’s legacy of giving serves as a powerful inspiration for continued philanthropic efforts in Milwaukee. Driven by Betty and Harry’s commitment to a thriving community, the family’s legacy is one of generational giving that is helping to eliminate hunger in Milwaukee, and inspiring future generations to do the same.
