Hunger Task Force and Kohl’s Renew Longstanding Partnership with $750,000 Investment to Strengthen Local Food Access in Milwaukee

Jan 27, 2026

Hunger Task Force is proud to share the renewal of its long-standing partnership with Kohl’s, marked by a $750,000 investment that will strengthen access to healthy food for children, families and older adults across Milwaukee County.

This renewed support builds on a long-standing partnership through Kohl’s Cares. Since 2009, Kohl’s has invested more than $12 million in Hunger Task Force programs and operations, strengthening access to nutritious food and ensuring neighbors facing hunger are served with dignity.

Kohl’s continued investment directly supports Hunger Task Force’s Free & Local mission, reinforcing a food system rooted in community partnerships, local purchasing and strategic distribution. Funding will help sustain and expand core programs that respond to persistent and rising food insecurity, including:

  • Emergency Food Distribution through Hunger Task Force’s network of more than 60 food pantries, meal programs and shelters, ensuring consistent access to healthy food for households across Milwaukee County.

  • The Summer Meals Program, which provides free, nutritious meals to children when school is out, helping close the summer hunger gap for thousands of local kids.

  • Local Food Purchasing and Distribution, strengthening Wisconsin’s food system while delivering fresh, high-quality food to families in need.

Over the years, Kohl’s support has helped deliver millions of pounds of nutritious food and more than one million meals to children, while also mobilizing thousands of hours of volunteer service from Kohl’s associates. From large-scale food sorting and Stockbox builds to harvests at the Hunger Task Force Farm, employee engagement remains a cornerstone of the partnership. Kohl’s volunteers contribute thousands of volunteer hours annually.

“At a time when food insecurity continues to affect too many families, sustained investments like this one are critical,” said Matt King, CEO of Hunger Task Force. “Kohl’s long-term commitment allows us to plan responsibly, strengthen local partnerships and ensure food access remains reliable, dignified and rooted in the community. This support has a lasting impact, not just on our programs, but on the people we serve every day.”

Kohl’s investment reflects a shared belief that addressing hunger requires both immediate response and long-term commitment. By renewing its partnership with Hunger Task Force, Kohl’s continues to help stabilize food access for local families while reinforcing a community-based model that prioritizes nutrition, efficiency and dignity.

“We’re proud of our longstanding partnership and are working to immediately minimize the gaps in nutritious food resources for our community,” said Christie Raymond, Kohl’s chief marketing officer. “If you are looking to help neighbors in need this season, we encourage you to please join us in supporting Hunger Task Force.”

As Hunger Task Force looks ahead, multi-year partners like Kohl’s remain essential to sustaining programs, responding to economic pressures and advancing solutions that feed people today while working to end hunger tomorrow.

Hunger Task Force is Milwaukee’s Free & Local food bank and Wisconsin’s anti-hunger leader. The organization provides healthy and nutritious food to hungry children, families and seniors in the community absolutely free of charge. Hunger Task Force was founded in 1974 by a local advocacy group who then formed Milwaukee’s first food bank. Today, Hunger Task Force is 100% supported by the community and provides a safety net of emergency food with dignity to a network of 75 food pantries, soup kitchens and homeless shelters. Through legislative analysis, education and community organizing, Hunger Task Force continues to advocate for anti-hunger policy at the local, state and federal level.
