Angie Sandoval Has Supported Hunger Task Force During Her 11-Year Career at Johnson Controls
Stepping into the role of Community Involvement Analyst nearly three years ago, Angie has been given the privilege of working on a team dedicated to engaging employees through volunteerism and community philanthropy. In her role, Angie helps manage the Volunteer Rewards Program, which donates $10 to an organization for every hour an employee volunteers there. To create a meaningful community impact, every Johnson Controls employee is given 50 hours of volunteer time annually.
“Growing up, the way that I did, first generation, daughter of immigrants, I benefited from a lot of programs in the community. I received a free backpack. I went to the local food pantries Hunger Task Force supports. These resources supported my family,” says Angie. “As I was opening doors to career opportunities, I knew that whatever I was going to dedicate my life to was going to focus on helping people like me.”
Angie credits the hundreds of volunteer hours Johnson Controls dedicates every year to advancing our mission at Hunger Task Force to the partnership we’ve forged.
“When you have a partner that is grateful for your work, the time that you’re putting in and the number of volunteers you bring to each shift, it drives me to deepen our relationship,” adds Angie. “I know that no matter what I can count on Hunger Task Force to accommodate volunteer requests and provide a hands-on and engaging experience during which my team sees the impact we’re making in our community and has fun.”
To further connect Johnson Controls employees with Hunger Task Force, Angie worked with our Community Relations Manager to host the first-ever food box build on the Johnson Controls campus. The event kicked off this year’s Food For Families season of giving and enabled employees to roll up their sleeves to feed people in need from the convenience of their office building.
“Our employees were so glad to have a Hunger Task Force volunteer shift onsite,” shares Angie. “You are so easy to work with and can tailor volunteer experiences to best engage groups. Your mission is so important. It’s something that we all relate to. We all have kids. We all have grandparents. Hunger touches people off all ages.”
Hunger Task Force is proud of the decades long partnership with Johnson Controls to make healthy eating more attainable for people living on fixed incomes across Milwaukee County, which is made possible by dedicated team members like Angie who work diligently to offer meaningful experiences for employees to give back and improve the lives of their neighbors.
