Hunger Task Force Hosts Public Distribution of Senior Farmers’ Market Vouchers

Hunger Task Force staff and volunteers will register Milwaukee-area low-income seniors up for the Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program and distribute $25 in vouchers to each participant. The vouchers can be exchanged for healthy foods at farmers’ markets and community supported agriculture programs this summer to improve access to healthy foods for low-income seniors.

Hunger Task Force is proud to be Milwaukee’s only Free & Local Food Bank. Because of the community support we receive, we can ensure a healthy and nutritious supply of free food within our network of nearly 200 access points for hungry children, families and seniors in Milwaukee County.

Hunger Task Force Reports Bountiful Harvest at The Farm in 2024

The Hunger Task Force Farm wrapped up the 2024 growing season with an impressive harvest of over 500,000 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables. With the help of over 13,200 volunteer hours, the Farm provided nutritious produce to thousands of families and seniors in Milwaukee.

Meet Stevens Point Salvation Army, a proud member of the Hunger Relief Federation since 2017. Committed to fighting hunger locally, they provide healthy, chef-prepared meals for residents at The Hope Center and distribute nearly 2,000 to-go meals monthly for non-residents.

Hunger Task Force Farm Joins Heirloom Collard Greens Trial

Hunger Task Force Farm (The Farm) partnered with the Hunger Relief Federation, Seed Savers Exchange and REAP Food Group to participate in a heirloom collard greens trial. The Farm team is testing 10 heirloom collard varieties for traits such as yield, cold hardiness and seed production.
